Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm not trying to rush winter. I'm sure some semblance of winter is on the way. That means we are approaching the 2026 Ultimate Sport Show Tour - the three biggest fishing and outdoor sport shows in Michigan!

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Wow, was it slow out there.  I hate St. Clair this time of year to be honest.  I don't mind the cold, but the fishing is so freakin slow...year after year.  Anyway, enough griping...I got out about 8:30 and decided to mainly just fish the Mile Roads.  But first we decided to head down toward the Detroit river and start in GP Shores.  Yeah...about that...what a waste of time.  We started in shallow and worked our way out past 12 FOW.  Nothing.  Jerkbaits, lipless cranks, tubes, Senkos.  Fished around many known rockpiles and weedbeds.

We then headed North and fished around 9 Mile.  Again, we fished rock piles and dropoffs.   Same story.  Never saw another boat around us boat a bass either.  It's been a couple of hours now and I'm getting bored, so we decide to make a run more North and try for some Largemouth.

We arrived in the Gino's area and the weeds are still really thick.  We couldn't really get where I wanted to go because the lake levels are so low.  So we started about 3FOW and worked our way slowly out to about 8FOW.  Nothing.  Really bored now.

Headed over to the dropoffs near Metro where I finally caught one.  4+ lbs.  Really nice fish.  My partner manages a short fish and that was it.  We fished it for about an hour and nada.

The previous week, I fished the end of the Middle Channel and bupkis.  I did get a few in the channel deep, but nothing steady.  That day I also hit several main lake spots and couldn't get much going.

Sigh.  I don't know...maybe I need to head up to Marine City and fish Fawn like I usually do this time of year.  I know everyone says the channels are not on right now, but I think I might go eliminate that water myself.  LOL  This is why year after year after year after year after year after year...I start thinking about hanging it up.  I feel pretty confident going down to Erie this time of year, but it is so weather dependent, I can't seem to get a good day for it.

Well that's the report.  Not particularly useful I know.  Sorry. >:(

I feel your pain Rev....I fished the Mile Roads on Friday and Anchor bay on Thursday and had about the same results...My Graph was pretty much blank both days with bait fish and schools of large fish being rare...I will probably head to the South shore if I find time to get out this week...If the water is clear down there I love sight fishing around those rocks so maybe I will give that a try....

What is really tough to swallow is 26lbs won the Cash for bass and there were plenty of weights over 20lbs so guys are on them...

Yeah, that's a tough pill to swallow.  Canadian side I'm assuming.  I think I may like to pay Marcel Veenstra to take me fishing sometime in the next couple of weeks.  Anyone want to split a day on the water with me?  It's worth the learning experience!

Have you been up the river at all lately or is it to late.    My boat is over at North Bay Marine for a check up.  I am hoping they have it ready later this week.  I may go up and launch at Algonac and run around a bit.  Learned some top water stuff along sea walls I want to try.

Revtro

I really haven't been in the channels the past couple of weeks except for some stuff at the end of the Middle Channel.  I saw lots of bass deep on the camera but had a tough time getting them to bite.  I'm thinking of heading more North up the river to see what's going on.  I also want to check out some of the seawall stuff down in the South Channel.  Maybe there's bait there because I sure haven't seen much of it in the main lake.  Dunno.

How much does Marcel get these days?  He's a friend of mine but we never talk $.  Just fishing.  Guess I could ask him myself eh?  LOL!!
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

I'm not sure, I haven't asked yet.  I had a brief email exchange with him and he indicated he'd be happy to do a learning style trip, not just hang out on a spot all day and catch 40.  I told him I was more interested in learning how to locate these elusive St. Clair fall bass.

Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, and a good woman - or a bad woman; it depends on how much happiness you can handle.

I fished the st.clair cut 2 weekends ago canadian water.  Worked the shipping channel edge from the south channel to the first main marker in the st.clair cut.  Used side imaging to find the big weed beds.  Usually the  smallies were there.  We managed 16 lbs but lost a few that would hve bumped us to 20.  the top guys were in canada.  I didnt want to run that far in water that rough.  Swimbaits on football heads slowly swam on the bottom ruled the day.  I havent maaged a decent limit in the channels for over a month now.  Cranks with long pauses worked to at times.  Hope this
helps
Got one!
