Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

WOW, you and I have very different ways of handling bad prefishing.  Yours, however is much more logical and healthy.  I usually end up with my blood pressure spiking to the point of a stroke, punch my trolling motor and few times, and start talking about how I don't know what I am doing, can't catch fish, and how I should take up knitting or some other lame hobby since fishing doesn't seem to be working out.
I can learn things from you.  Nice catch!

I go junk fishing or just fish what I like to fish anyway.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I don't pre fish for tournaments anymore. I find that in tournaments it's just better to go fishing. It keeps the stress level down and I find that I can concentrate on what I am doing better. In other words, "better focus and concentration" leads to better success. I won the NBAA Oakland County One on One Saturday on Orchard Lake. I haven't fished the lake since last July. I just went fishing Saturday and I won. Better focus and concentration. I find I make better decisions on the water when I do that.
