Anyone familiar with this lake? I am headed up there July 7-13. We rented a house on the lake for a little family time. I hope to sneak out about every morning to fish a little. Can't find many reports on it. If anyone is up there and wants to go fishing one morning give me a shout. I will be fishing by myself.

I plan on fishing Long Lake once also, as it looks like it is pretty close. Should I go to the big bays? Will the smallies still be spawning or will they be headed deeper?

Thanks guys.

Long  is a definate show up on for ya.  You will also be close to lake Ann, Duck and Green lakes in Interlochen.  The bay will be ok too to go to. As for bass lake, a few guys have made reports on it , but I have only seen them about ice fishing.  They were so so reports.

We used to stay on Bass Lake every Fourth of July.  I haven't been there in 6 years or so (so things may have changed), but, it's a decent numbers lake.  It's a great lake to get less experienced anglers into bass fishing.  There were quite a few small, dumb fish in that lake.  It used to be only largemouth, but someone started dumping smallies in there.  There is very little cover/structure to throw to, only a few docks, some pads, and an old sunken rowboat out near the middle.  There used to be a couple patches of deeper weeds that always held fish.  The biggest fish I got out of there was 3.5.  Throwing topwater was always fun and productive, as well as a variety of soft plastics.

Thanks for the reply guys. This is a family vacation first and fishing vacation second. I hope to get out every morning until about 9 or 10.

Cheetam, are the "little" bass like 14" fish or even smaller that that?

At the time, there were mostly 10-12 inch largemouths.  The smallies were 2-3 pounds.  I'm sure some of them may have grown up some since I was last there.

BIGSHOW

I've had a cottage on the lake since 1969. Fishing goes up and down through the years. You will catch lots of small largemouth and maybe get lucky and catch something bigger. There are a few nice pike. And very few smallmouth. And even fewer walleye. I've never even caught a walleye there. But saw a 28" caught from a boat near me. I know this is an old post but in case anyone goes up there hit me up and i'll save you some time finding fish
