Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

What a great morning I had with my 9 year old daughter.  This is in stark contrast to the rotten outing I had at the MadWags Memorial the weekend prior.

We got out at 6:30 and started just South of 9 Mile.  The bite was slow but it was good to see at least 2 bass willing to chase a topwater for a change.  It was kind of a strange start to the day though.  Aside from a few willing to go after the Chugbug. I threw all sorts of stuff and had followers on almost every cast for a while.  But they didn't want to commit.  I got one on a jerkbait and thought that maybe this was it, but only got one fish with it.  They followed spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, senkos, even tubes.  But they didn't want to bite.  These were shallower fish (4ft).  So after a while I got kind of frustrated and headed out a little deeper, hoping the deeper fish would be a bit more aggressive.

And they were.  I was still getting followers on moving baits and nothing on tubes, so I made the decision to go "old school" and pulled out a Canadian Mist tube and rigged it with a red hook.  This color hasn't done much for me lately, even from last year.  But today it really did the trick.  Once my daughter and I made the color change, we started catching them every few minutes.  We had a nice mixed bag of largemouth and smallmouth with several over 4lbs.  It was like night and day.  One minute all we got were followers, the next, we had several double headers.

Overall, it was a great morning with my bestest little buddy.  She had a blast and was beaming when we got off the water.  Ahh, I love fishing.   ;D

Who doesn't love a good hero to zero story!?!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Nice!  Always a good day when the kids have fun and catch fish!!!   ;D

Congrats on your hero status!  I'm going to try to get my oldest two kids out this evening when I get out of work. Very important to do that. Can't wait to see my 9 year old daughter get her first bass.
