Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I am typically not one to buy into fads, but I am starting to get excited about the possibilities of the A-rig.  I cannot wait to throw this thing.

Mike S.

Funny!  I bought one from McCarter at the fishing show.  Temptation got to me, and I rigged it up today to see just how heavy it is.  No, I didn't take it to the lake, but I did let it flex the tip of my rod in the driveway.  Only 30 days to go, or so.

Caught my first Alabama Rig fish today!  Nemesis rig, 3 Reaction Innovations little dippers and 2 #4 willow leaf blades (only allowed 3 hooks in Missouri).  The Spotted Bass down here absolutly hammer this thing!  Didn't catch anything big on it (yet!) but had fun.

That is sweeet!!!  Did you get any doubles or triples...or better?

Mike S.

Good deal. Any pics?  You have to have pictures Mike.

Are you keeping track of which hooks get hit the most? Most people are reporting the center hook gets hit the most? Some rigs make that wire longer... which might skew the 'research.' Others report they catch the most on the bottom hooks, followed by the middle.

Don't mean to hi-jack this thread but we are finding that most fish are caught on the center hook.  We are running our 'teaser' baits on the top two wires (you can only fish 3 hooks here in Missouri.

The biggest fish I've caught on it so far was actually a white bass... 2-3 pounds or so.  Hit like a freight train too.

Didn't catch anything on it today, but didn't throw it much.  It was high sun, bluebird skies, 80+ degrees and very little wind.  Just not a great A-Rig type of day.  In fact the fishing was really slow today all over no matter what we threw.

Mike... I only took one photo yesterday of the fist A-Rig fish of the trip... a 15" spotted bass.  It's on my facebook.  Michael Ozinga.

Well, I'm the only person in the world who doesn't have a Facebook page. So, I guess I will just take your word for it.

djkimmel

Actually, there are almost 6 billion people who still don't have a facebook account (profile). Which is different than a facebook page. Pages are for businesses, personalities, non-people. In case you wanted to know.

Thanks, Dan. Now I don't feel like such an outsider.

Waterfoul

Yeah, but of those 6 billion people, 5.9 billion are Chinese, of the remaining, all but 12 live in Siberia.  So you see Mike... you really are just about the only person in America that doesn't use Facebook.

But here you go... my first A-rig fish.  15" Spotted Bass.

Hahahaha!!!!!  You kill me! I would love to be able to catch a bass like that right now.

Dan

Mike, I don't have a Facebook page either. I have my website and just seem to be way to busy with it. I do hijack my wife's Facebook page, which she hates. She gets a bunch of fishing stuff on it now and she's always giving me a hard time about it.

For a while there, US facebook accounts were going down. I don't know if that has changed back upwards or not. The bus might be getting crowded?!?

But yes, there is life without facebook still though lots of people spend lots of time on there. It is also confusing (Dan) when multiple people share one facebook account. You can never figure out who you're talking too and can easily get yourself in trouble!

Facebook pages are a different story. It is fairly common for multiple people to work on pages. It is also probably fairly safe to say some of the pros are not doing their own updates on facebook and some pages are not the pro but a fan running a fan page though not all make that clear all the time.

There was an alabama rig for sale in the booth next to GLB where the head of the bait was wooden.  Anyone remember what brand this rig was or where I could find one?

djkimmel

Are you talking about the Grand Rapids show or the Detroit show? There weren't any on either side of me at Grand Rapids. There was Kustom Kicker with their Reaper Rig across from me at Grand Rapids?

I think you're talking about McCarter's. Check out my http://www.teardropbass.com/  Latest Blog page. Once there look up above in the archive section for the month of March. Once you click on March you will need to scroll to the bottom and you'll find pictures and info.

Well, next Sat will be my first opportunity to try my new A rig.  Then the following week, I will be on Dale Hallow.
