Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

No no no ....  not Gizzard Shad ..... Dave, Cheetam and I developed ..... just for  Lake St Clair 15 - 19 fow in August ...... the WORLD FAMOUS  -----

Gizzard Perch !!

(Of course you have to cast with a 7 ft Mojo rod, while listening to Mojo in the morning, and drinking a cup of (mo) Joe) ..... hmmmmm

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one!  That one was a true, one-off custom that will never, ever be reproduced.  From the mind of a madman (Mojoman?) comes...THE GIZZARD PERCH.

good times, good times.

What pound test do you guy's throw the deep divers on? 6xd's and so forth. Also do you prefer mono or florocarbon?

djkimmel

I still use both. P-Line Halo and Fluorocarbon more often though for the extra sensitivity and feel. Gets down a little deeper for the same pound test as mono too since it is more dense and thinner. I use 10, 12, 14, 17 and 20 pound test depending on how deep I need the bait and how big the crankbait is.

10 pound test with medium to small crankbaits and in more open, deeper water. 20 pound for shallow runners over shallow weeds and cover.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Doing my daily read so I don't suck as much in the Belleville lake tourney this week and came across this: http://www.in-fisherman.com/2011/05/31/crankin-big-water-smallmouths/ which I thought seemed pretty relevant to this thread as well.  Thanks to this thread I've switched up my baits quite a bit this summer.  Running KVD 1.5, Strike King 5, and the 6 series.  Can hit just about every depth now.  The cooler weather this week should prove interesting.  Thanks for the tips fellas!
