Duncan Lake report not Reeds Lake

I got the truck back from the shop around 11am.  $465 later I did not have much time left to fish before family responsibilities or much money left  for gas so I went to Duncan Lake.

I have never fished Duncan before and now I know why.  VERY narrow lake which gives it a bath tub effect when the wake boats are out.  I caught around 20 but only one keeper which barely touched.  I caught a few on a crankbait but the rest came from shallow wood or docks skipping a senko.

There were almost no weeds in the lake except for some lily pads and the rest of the weeds were all dead.  The water was dirty.  I found out quickly that the reason for the dirty water was the large population of carp.

Overall it was nice to get out after 2 weeks but I will certainly choose a different lake next time.

Duncan can fish very good some times. There are big fish there and lots of them.  I've caught one 6 lbs out of it and have seen several limits wieghing 15 lbs and better.  If it's close for you try it again

Is it better in the fall and spring when there is less skiers?   I tried a jig and pig also because of the color and never got a bump.  Would love to catch a 6 pounder.

WATER HIGH = DUNCAN TRY...........

It's the best lake around after a couple inches of rain; last summer we weighed in 19.79 lbs in a 3 hour weeknight tourney.

WATER LOW = DUNCAN NO............

Hey those kind of rhymm don't they!

It's not much fun out there when the wake board boats are running, but there are a lot of huge bass in this lake, as well as good bluegills and crappie. It's a shame they kill off the weeds, because it makes the fish suspend more, which makes them difficult to catch at times. Last summer our club fished there three times and we took first twice, but then got skunked another time. Best fished in the morning before the big boats come out.
