G'day from Down Under

Crikey!! Took Maverick for a quick flick the other day down to Youngs Crossing.........A small river that runs below Lake Samsonvale.  Fished a variety of techniques through the morning including Spinnerbaits, Plastics and Crankbaits.  Maverick managed this small bass from small gravel point which runs to a  shallow bay (2ft on one side) to a drop off on the other (around 8ft I did say it was a small river :D  It fell to a Square Billed Bomber Crankbait in Baby Bass color.  He fished this along the point on the deep side slowly cranking the lure across the bottom with short pauses and it nailed the lure about 5ft from the end of his retrieve!!  A small fish proved a worth opponent with the fish never giving up.  This system has been subjected to many releases recently which seems to have differing effects on the fishing with some days seeing the fish hitting anything to others (like this one) proving quite tough.

Adding the report more for interests sake than to win the competition.  I've spent too much time away from the site and have made a promise to be more active here!!

Tight lines everyone and warm weather wishes to you all!

Regards
Colin

Well whomever (Mikesmiph?) is pestering you to keep us occasionally updated on Down-under fishing activities is much appreciated as is your report! Thanks!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Hahahaha!

Thanks DJ!  That Mikesmiph is a great guy (no he did no pay me to say that either!)  I've been out about 5 or 6 times since that report however there is no way of making donuts (no fish) reports very interesting!

I could elaborate on the numerous ways to lose lures here in Australia but thats a bit of sore point  :'(

Hoping to get into a few more river run fish before the season closes for breeding in June, then its off to the lakes for for a few tournaments!

Tight lines all!

Regards
Colin
