This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

I've caught fish deep on them and sometimes had some interesting (and vicious) reactions to them on shallow sight-fishing bass. I don't use them a lot, but once in a while I break them out to see if it makes a bite happen. Sometimes it does. Not something fish see a lot.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I have not personally.  I'm pretty sure though that last year there were a couple of guys in the booth talking about how well they worked in the channels in deep water.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I fish rivers about 99% of the time and have run across goldfish (live) in some of the shallows at times.  They were probably released by some pet owner that got tired of the tank cleaning.
I tried goldish tubes to mimic these pets but have never done well on them.

One other thing to consider about these color tubes (including the Great Lakes Craw) is that they can work real well on lakes that have rusty crayfish in them. I've done well on bright sunny days on crystal clear Gull Lake on Great Lakes Craw and orange/red craw crankbaits.

I thought that Belleville Lake was the only place you would see goldfish.  I have seen many there over the years.  And they are not small.  More than likely they have been release by pet owners tired of tank cleaning as Jack said.  I guess it would not be unlikely to see them anywhere else.

I've seen them in many lakes, ponds and rivers throughout Michigan over the years. As far as the Goldfish tube, it wasn't meant to just imitate a specific fish. It's just the color name.
