Fished mullett for about 4 hrs sat before winds blew me off lake.  Not a thing.  Some very soft bites but hard to tell inthe waves.  Primarly fished the east side from aloha park to the cheboygan river.  I actuall saw sleet.  Very cold nite in the tent but a good sleeping bag helped.  Today I did not feel like getting wet so we headed to Long lake right by mullet.  Rustydog actuall recomended it to us.  He was camping close by me.  Dan there really are smallies in Long lake.  I was the 11am to 1230pm and caught a solid 19.5 smallie.  Will post pic when I get it. Caught it on a xcalibur xr50 in pearl melon. Lots of wood in the lake and some rocky areas but not many.  Water in both lakes in the upper 50s.
Got one!

I'll be. I get mixed reports on that lake, but my one attempt last year to fish it resulted in the blocking the whole ramp debacle because my truck would not shift out of park. Turned out it was just a 15 amp fuse... 5 hours later when a smart person figured it out quickly for me.

That was after waiting for the tow truck. After quite a few phone calls looking for someone available and willing. And finding a guy at a local shop who just happened to stop by for a few minutes who said he'd wait 45 minutes or so for us to get to him.

I thought about repeating the attempt this year, but the constant wind and rain sent me largemouth fishing instead. That was my most fun day. I think I had caught a total of 6 smallies before that point. Toughest fall trip ever. Worse than the year we got 7 inches of snow and flooding.

Still had some fun. I still love it up there. It will be good another time again. And rusty made me a really good steak one night.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
