Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Does anyone have any tips on shore fishing areas for bass and/or gills in/near Benzonia/Frankfort/Beulah areas?  I'd like to take my girls for a couple hours if possible.  Thanks in advance!

you can trout fish in the Betsie River.  Lots of little dogs in there.  we salmon fish it in September but i know there are salmon in there right now.  Dont know about bass and gills tho.  there are some lakes up there but i have never been to any of them.

Crystal Lake is up there.  Popular lake and can be real good fishing.  I bet Dan will chime in and let you know about it.

Crystal would be tough fishing from shore. Bear Lake, I don't know too much about. Most of those lakes have very little access. I guess in that area I would be tempted to say go to Portage Lake in Onekama and fish off the pier at the lake end. I would bet you could catch panfish and if you get out in the channel where it empties in the lake with a good cast you could catch some good smallies. I've not been up in the Frankfort end. Probably fish the pier there as well. The only one I know for sure is Portage is the pier end of Portage.
