Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I recently replaced some of my older Shimano Stradics with the newer 3000 F1 model, and was wondering if anyone has had issues with the bail not closing smoothly.  Sometimes it also seems to take more effort to close, like it is binding or something.  Its a great reel other than this intermitten issue.  Anyone else have this issue? or just mine....

I have 4 of the new FI models in 2500...These reels come from the Factory dry and you need to lightly oil them.....

As far as the Bail...Do you close the bail with your hand or do you crank it to close it..If you crank it to close it you should get into the habit of closing it with your hands..You will get less line twist...It should still close fairly easy though and after oiling it if you are still having problems I would get ahold of your point of purchase or else Shimano...You can go to their website and there is a customer service link there...

I love the new FIs and the drag on them is the best I have experienced on a spinning reel..

JL

Thanks for the info.  I will try lightly oiling them.  Did not realize the come dry from the factory.  I generally always close my bail by hand, but it still does seem to bind.

I agree I love the drag on new and old Stradics.

John,

As you know I'm having the same issues with my new Stradic 3000 FI...

I have a 2008 Saros 3000 and to be honest, I like it better then my new Stradic.

One of the other problems I have with the new Stradic is the switch to disengage the bail (to back reel) is tiny and difficult to get to in the heat of the moment...

You are right about the Disengage lever....I just started working with back reeling this year and it has taken some practice to get used to smacking the lever to release the bail...

I have heard a few other guys say they like the Saros better...I have never casted one so I can't comment, I may have to give one a try next year...

DDBethke

And the Saros is much cheaper!
