The Bass Federation of Michigan has an important meeting coming up April 5th, 2009 at 1 PM at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn Hills Michigan. This is the 1 annual mandatory member clubs meeting that every club is required to attend. One of the important activities at that meeting will be voting for 3 open board positions.

Board members have a significant impact on the future of your federation. The vote should not be taken lightly if you value the future of bass fishing in Michigan. My hope is that everyone carefully thinks about how important their vote is to vote for candidates that will make a difference. With only 9 board positions and a lot of work to do, we need people on the board who will do a lot more than just show up for a couple of meetings if we hope to grow and catch up to the rest of the country in the biggest bass federation – TBF, Inc.

That's why I'm declaring who I plan to vote for at the April meeting, and why. I'm voting for Dave Reault.

Dave Reault is a smart person with unquestionable integrity. Despite a very tough economy, he helps out when he can and most importantly, when he talks, people listen to him and respect what he has to say. Dave is an excellent thinker with good ideas thanks to his business, fishing and federation experience including being a charter board member of TBF of Michigan.

I made a mistake.

At our meetings, we vote and plan. The real work goes on in between the meetings and involves all of the areas that are necessary to the work of promoting and protecting bass fishing. I hope you join me in voting for candidates who understand that.

I think Jeff Cox would be a great guy to bring in, he would be my pick.

APRIL 2010... I'm voting for ME, MYSELF, AND I? :-\'
Can I get a what, what? "Somebody, stop me!"
I read something the other day on lakestclair.net about BASS Federation running that forum? Was Dan & company trying to run the TBF with this forum? TELLING EVERYONE WHO GETS HIS VOTES?IT FAILED....

"VOTE FOR CHANGE"

Everyone has a right to state their own opinion, including you and including me.

Guess you don't remember the original language of the post, changed well after the vote happened. If you did, you'd realize your statement is inaccurate in several ways. All the persons I voted for are on the present board. My change of mind came later after the vote.

I recall I talked to you personally before the vote about my votes and why I was voting who I said at that time. And why I wasn't voting for others. My original reasons still stand. And I have changed my mind about two others.

I will support anyone who shows they are not in it for personal gain or the gain of a small subset of members. Or for anyone not in it only for a personal gripe or issue. I will support anyone who shows they understand what a federation is truly about and shows they will consider all members in all their decisions and actions. I can tell the difference between lip service and understanding too since I've been on 3 different boards of large groups with over 20 years of experience. I also value maturity and selflessness quite a bit.

Anyone who fits this will get my support and I may even promote them. Anyone who doesn't won't get my support, and if I think they are bad for the federation, I will talk about it. Because I actually care about the concept of a federation. The true concept.

I like what you are saying, but I only wish you would've stayed on the board to help others out with all the changes. You take good notes and like to talk and speak your mind on different issues. You would've helped with the minutes and informed many of what went on at the meeting on this forum. Now we have debates on changes over bylaws, voting, and the minutes or lack of? we have no info?

Thanks for getting involved again and helping us grow as a federation. You do a lot for the bass fishing world.

                                              Thanks Dan,

                                                                Jon
p.s. Dan, Why did you leave the board?
