Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

Types of fishing licence tags for non-Canadian residents



The non-Canadian resident licence fees stated below are in effect from January 1, 2009, until December 31, 2009. For locations of licence issuers, contact the Ministry of Natural Resources office that serves the area in which you would like to make your purchase.





Licence Type Available From 2009 Fee for Non-Canadian Residents

Non-Canadian Resident Temporary Fishing Outdoors Card and Application only. Annual licence tags must be purchased. 1,800+ licence issuers (including ServiceOntario offices) throughout the province $9.00 
Sport Fishing Licence Tag - valid for the calendar year 1,800+ licence issuers throughout the province $68.00 
Conservation Fishing Licence Tag - valid for the calendar year 1,800+ licence issuers throughout the province $41.75 
Eight-day Sport Fishing Licence* 1,800+ licence issuers throughout the province $43.50 
Eight-day Conservation Fishing Licence * 1,800+ licence issuers throughout the province $25.25 
One-Day Sport Fishing Licence (Great Lakes and connecting waters including Lake St. Clair, Rondeau Bay, St. Lawrence River and Lake St. Francis) Available from many charter boat operators, licence issuers and ServiceOntario offices along the Great Lakes and throughout Southern Ontario. $18.25 
Non-Canadian Resident Angling Licence for a Member of an Organized Camp ServiceOntario offices $4.25 per child 
Lake St. Joseph tags Lake St. Joseph tourist operator from whom accommodation is obtained No charge 



* Eight-day fishing licences are valid for eight consecutive calendar days.  A calendar day is a 24-hour period starting at 12:00 a.m       
Non-Canadian resident fishing licences are also available through the mail by calling the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources at 1-800-667-1940.
