After reading this article, I thought I'd make some pink color shifting jig heads... https://zmanfishing.com/cms/chatter/harness-lightning-cold-water-bass

#1 Gami x-strong round bends. I put a shroom head in one pic for comparison. 1/32, 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, and 3/16.

These are heavier in multi color....

Color shifting paint is hard to show in pics.... But this shows how red turns to purple/blue and black to gold etc..

Look great Mike, as usual.

Ok? I didn't see anything in the referenced article about color-shifting? I've never seen anything noticeable about colors that vary? I have liked motor oil baits in some thing in the past including motor oil red flake I was hooked on at one time but other than that other colors I've tried seemed like blah... No big deal. What's the story?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I read it. Thought it just said use a red head specifically? I like red ecpecially in the spring. When it works it's lights out. When it doesn't cut it off and use something else. Just wondered why you chose the color-shifting option? I'm sure you have a reason(s)?

Interesting article since Red is the first color to disappear as water gets deeper.    Most lighter colors green and chartreuse turn to white as water depth increases.   But if it catches fish it works.   Confidence is the key.

Like fly fishing.   There are flies that catch fish and flies that catch fishermen.

Agree.   I have always used Un Painted Swim Bait Heads. ( cheaper since I am a old / poor retiree ).   That is all I have ever used.  The pike don't seem to mind either.

From 1900 - 1960, the best selling lure color was redhead (red head/ white body). Look at those crazy walleye colors in hard and soft baits. Fish don't care very much what color it is either...

All of my fancy colors are for me...  ;D  Otherwise, All of my tackle would look "Boring" like Steve Smiths... No paint on heads etc..  :P

I'm proud to own my fancy looking baits that cost 1/3 of what others pay in the store. And mine generally have much better components.  8)

Good, interesting points dartag about colors, but I still have some colors in some situations I believe I'm going to catch 'em batter on!

Meanwhile, back to 21XDC, maybe there are multiple versions of the article and the one I read didn't say anything about colors other than to use red jigheads?!?

" If you ever see a shad floating that's succumbed to the winter cold, you'll see that its head often has a pinkish or reddish hue. I truly believe bass key on this.

As your friend Wayne Carpenter told me.  Confidence in a bait is most important.  If you believe that color will work you are already winning the battle.

21XDC

And if you don't believe that color matters, You can have equal confidence in everything you fish with.  8)
