Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Got out late this morning with a friend on his boat.  I attribute some of our low numbers due to the fact that we didn't get started till after 11am.  We fished till 4 and managed 7 fish.  Most of them were in the 3+lb class.  We got them all shallow in Muskamoot.  It was slow everywhere though from some reports I got from some folks who were in Anchor Bay and the Mile Roads.  In Moot I saw barely any beds and very little activity.  Personally I don't think I'd waste much time up in there until the fish arrive in bigger numbers.  The warming trend should help coming up.  But I'm guessing it's pretty over-fished combined with the weird weather we've had last week.  They are just off up there.  At 11 on a Tuesday, there were nearly a dozen boats when we arrived.  I think the higher water has everyone more willing to go fish there and it's showing.  I might hit it again later in the week, but I'm not enthused.  I think it would be better to fish the Mile Roads where you can opt to find some deeper staging fish if you can't find them shallow.

Anyway, my buddy got his on a blue and silver spoon of all things.  I got mine on a dropshot.  Nothing on a tube or crankbait.  Maybe when the spawn is in full swing it might be better depending on how hard it gets hammered.  eh...we'll see.  I hope to be out Thursday and Friday and seeing what I can find South of 9 Mile.  To be continued...

Seems there's been a lot of days that lake has produced UN-St. Clair numbers !!!    :-\'

Add today (5-20) to that.  Today SUCKED!  I can't even give a report...it's that bad.  What a parking lot today too!  I came into the ramp at 11 Mile and there were easily a hundred boats in view.

We found a group of bed fish a little south of where we talked to you.  Nothing big maybe 3 pounds.  Went all the way to Ford Cove and didn't find much.   Looks like this wave is done.  Wonder if there will be another.  Going to be inland lake fishing for me for a while.
