why do we have a 5 fish limit, maybe we could try a MLF type paper tourny during the summer on LSC just to see if it works out or if it becomes a big PIA.

Why not both?  Total weight and total weight of best 5. That way if your catching nothing but 2lbers you might win if you catch enough.

where are you going to find enough people that just want to weigh fish and tell you that was a fishing landing penalty. LOL

I don't want to make this not fun for people by making it too competitive but you could always host another event with total measurements of total number of fish caught. That might be fun for some people who catch a lot of fish.
