Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Big dreams

This lake is tough to fish!  Two years we have visited this impoundment and two years we had a tough time fishing.  This is probably the prettiest lake I have been too and looks awesome for bass.  Problem is nobody told the bass that!  Fortunately for us, the low performance output from last year had lowered our expectations for this year.  Throw in a few learning of hard knock from last year and we all were able to catch a few.

Water temp was in the low 60's with sun and clouds all weekend.  Most of the fish were in the 4-6 ft weedy flat areas.  I was able to find limit of largemouth on the backside of a point.  With all the other spots the fish should have been, I would have never thought in a million years that they would be where they were.  I found 5 keepers in 10 foot of water with no structure or anything.  The only thing they would hit was a wacky rig and I had to leave it sit there for 10-20 seconds.  I would set the hook without feeling for anything and 3 out of 4 times, I would have a fish on.  Problem was I had three get off at the boat.  Two of them were touching the boat when they came unbuttoned.  All of the fish were in the 2-3 lb range which would have helped the cause but not win it.  Two day winning weight was 21 lbs.  There was a guy bass fishing from Ohio.  He was fun fishing and I told him to switch the spinnerbait out for a finesse type bait.  Hope he listened as they sure did have lock jaw.
