Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Family Shore Fishing Area near Algonac?

My family and I will be camping at Algonac State Park in 2 weeks. We're looking for a public access area somewhere on the St Clair River, or maybe Anchor Bay that we can take the kids to and do a little (non species specific) shore fishing.

Not looking for any honey holes, just a safe place to fish that we can get to without trespassing or require a boat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I just drove by there the other day. I think right across the road from the campground is public fishing for the park. If you drive south on Jefferson when leaving the park you will hit New Baltimore in about 15-20 min. They have a nice little park on the water with fishing and a small beach area. Also about 5 min past that is Brandenburg Metro Park off of Jefferson just south of 23 mile. They have a long pier and tons of stuff for kids. You can fish from the shore there also. Those are both off of Anchor Bay. I take my kids to both of them. Had more luck at Brandenburg for panfish. The New Baltimore park is nicer, but smaller. Between Algonac park and the two I mentioned might be a couple spots to fish, but they would be small. If you go north on Jefferson out of the park you would head to Marine City which is nice to drive through and I'm sure they have some public fishing areas. My wife loves looking at the houses in Marine City. I live on the edge of New Baltimore and am always looking for a place for the kids to fish. Hopes this helps, I'll keep an eye out since I'll be heading toward Algonac this week.

Awesome! Thanks for the Info! I wondered about that spot just across the road, wasn't sure if that was park property or not. Might not be a bad place to start!

I've been along that drive through New Baltimore etc a number of times when I cross at Walpole to come over for the BFL's so I did see a number of fishy looking spots, just didn't have a visual memory of any public access areas.

Going to take that road home home after the MadWags Memorial this Saturday to scout things, but wanted to get an idea ahead of time where to start. Thanks again!
