I spent Thursday on Belleville and caught nothing but small fish. I was actually surprised by that because it usually fishes big in September into October. I started in the creek arm right across from the east DNR launch. I fished from the mouth to the back and then out to the mouth and caught 7 dinks on a top water. I then headed east to the channel that leads back to Edison Lake. I was throwing a crank bait and caught 5 dinks fishing from the little bridge out to the point out in front of the dam. Also threw a tube there with no luck.....not even a bite. From there I moved to the rip rap between the bridges in Belleville town itself. Threw the same crank there and managed 3 small bass. Saw some bass busting shad and started to hop a white tube off the bottom. Caught 2 dinks using that technique. I then moved to some areas that had river channel bends and caught 9 dinks on inside bends. I fished the mouth of a creek arm on the east side of the lake on the south shore that had a secondary point and caught nothing.

The water had the usual brown stain to it with visibility of about a foot on the west side of the lake and 15 inches on the east side of the lake. Water temp on the lake was 73 degrees. The lake really turns on in the fall when the water temp hits 65 dropping to 50. So I think it's still a couple of weeks away.

Smallies are just not chasing bait with any consistency right now.  Probably in a couple more weeks.

You are probably right, the water temp needs to drop a bit more for this patter to really take off.

LAPORTE

With 2 tourneys over the weekend the lake is getting beat up perty much daily, with that said the later weighin on Sunday there was 3 10plus  pound bags that came in (mostly smallies). the bait fish are balled up everywhere... The season is changing. ...

The last of the Tuesday night tourneys is toinght if anyone wants to come out and play.
