Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Big dreams

Ross Lake is located in Beaverton, Michigan and is a fairly small lake at 294 acres.  I put in at the Beaverton city launch on M-18 by the bridge in town.  It is a free launch and is kept up well.  The lake had a muddy stain to it as it normally does with visibility less than one foot.  Temps were in the mid 80's.  I have copied a map with yellow highlights to show where I found the fish today.  The lake is a shallow lake that is less than 10 feet deep in 99% of the lake.  You would think the lake would only carry largemouth but with the Cedar River pumping into the lake, the smallmouth bass bite is pretty good.

Largemouth can be found by laydowns on the Western side of the lake as well as the major point North of the bridge along the weed line.

Smallmouth I found on the steel seawall closest to the gas station about 5 feet out from the bank.  I think they were relating to rocks at the bottom of the wall rather than the wall itself.

Since the water was stained good, I used black and blue for all of my soft plastics.  I used craws mainly which seemed to produce most of the fish using a 3/16 bullet sinker.  I did throw a swim jig a few times with only a few small takers.

The lake doesn't have huge fish rather, it has quantities.  If you need to regain your confidence, this is the lake to go to.  This is especially true due to the lack of fishing pressure.

Just a bit of advice.... You will need to scrub the crap out of your hull after going there.  The lake seems to have a stain that is piercing for some reason.
