1 Welcome to GreatLakesBass.com News & Updates
GreatLakesBass.com is growing and changing as all things do that evolve through growth. Much of that growth is thanks to all the loyal friendly members and visitors of GreatLakesBass.com. I want to thank you for your support and participation. Particularly those of you who make the GreatLakesBass.com forum one of the friendliest and most helpful fishing forums on the Internet. Please consider supporting the GreatLakesBass.com advertising sponsors – they help make GreatLakesBass.com possible in a big way.

If you don’t know me, my name is Dan Kimmel. I’m owner and programmer/webmaster of GreatLakesBass.com. I will continue to do my best, with your help, to keep GreatLakesBass.com the friendly and informative web site for all your Great Lakes region bass fishing and tournament angling needs. Periodically, I’ll send out additional newsletters to keep you informed about GreatLakesBass.com and our great outdoors.

2 Recent Changes at GreatLakesBass.com
Besides this newsletter, other recent changes at GreatLakesBass.com include the new official apparel source – Members have been asking for hats and shirts so I opened a store through Cafepress.com (no longer exists) to bring you some variety in sizes and items. The items are there if you are interested. This is a separate store from the GreatLakesBass.com Online store. Thanks.

3 Another Change -Improved Affiliate Links
I’ve been enhancing the GreatLakesBass.com Affiliate links page to give you more choices in online purchase from companies you probably already shop. Companies like Bass Pro Shops, D & R Sports Center, Xtreme Bass Tackle, BoatersWorld.com, LandBigFish.com and Amazon.com. If you are considering an online purchase from one of the GreatLakesBass.com affiliate companies, please consider using one of the graphic links on most of our web pages, or visit the enhanced Affiliates page for access to full search and catalog functions where you can even compare the Bass Pro (no longer available). You will still pay the same low price you always pay with these affiliates while GreatLakesBass.com will receive a small percentage of the purchase to help continue building the web site and adding functions. Using GreatLakesBass.com is free so we need things like advertising and affiliate commissions to pay for the cost and time to keep the web site up and growing. Thanks.

An additional new affiliation is available to members and visitors of GreatLakesBass.com with many free services that may appeal to boaters in particular on our new Boating Resource Center – check out boat test videos, look for boating accessories through extensive source lists, get a boat history before you buy (not free) and much more at our Boating Resource Center (no longer available).

4 Vote Yes this November on Proposals 1 and 3
If we all do even just a little each, we can accomplish so much. That has basically been my motto for most of my adult life. We have two chances to protect and improve our outdoors heritage this November 7th at the Michigan voting polls by voting Yes on Proposals 1 and 3.

Passing Proposal 1 is very important to all of us – this will give all 20 of the MDNR’s restricted funds constitutional protection rather than only statutory protection that they have now. These funds include money for fish and wildlife management, purchasing public lands and boating access and programs.

Statutes are easily changed – which is why these funds have been raided severely in the past. Constitutional protection will make sure these moneys we pay in good faith get used the way we expected them to be when we paid them and all you have to do is vote YES on Proposal 1.

Passing Proposal 3 allows the MDNR to make scientific management decisions about mourning dove hunting verses allowing the national anti-hunting organizations to mislead and abuse some public sentiment to make more progress in their relentless campaign to take away our hunting and fishing rights.

Vote YES and ask all your Michigan friends and neighbors to vote yes on November 7 on Proposals 1 and 3. For more information on these important issues, please visit our conservation & legislation forum.

5 Join The Bass Federation of Michigan
A group of dedicated anglers is organizing the new TBF (The Bass Federation) affiliate in Michigan – The Bass Federation of Michigan. TBF was started originally by the Bass federations to be our agent with industry sponsors and partners. In 2006, TBF has partnered in a major way with FLW Outdoors and BassFan.com dramatically changing the bass fishing scene by providing increased opportunities and presence in the outdoors and outdoor marketplace.

GreatLakesBass.com is a major supporter of TBF of Michigan and will be cooperating with their web functions (I am one of the organizers and conservation director). TBF of MI has incorporated in Michigan and signed a five year agreement with TBF national.

TBF of MI recently qualified 2 members for the new TBF National Championship presented by the National Guard to be held next April 18 – 21 on Lake Wylie in Charlotte North Carolina. All boats will be provided by Ranger Boats of Flippin Arkansas.

TBF of MI will focus on youth, conservation and the issues that affect all anglers in Michigan while holding a state championship and a youth championship. For more information on The Bass Federation of Michigan, visit MichiganTBF.com.
