I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

As many of you have probably seen, I am very excited about fishing St. Clair in May.  I know absolutely nothing about that lake, except that it is very well known for big muskies and smallies.  My question is, what are good lures, and colors for smallies in May?  I really want to catch some pig smallies, and would like to start buying lures for that trip now, so I don't have to buy them right before I go.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks. ???

that time of year you can literally catch smallies on anything.  Your best bets will be tubes and drop shot baits but you can still get into some good action throwing traps, jerks, topwaters, and flukes.  The crankbait bite will pick up a little better as summer sets in and the topwater bite will get better as the mayflies start to hatch.

Basically, if you concentrate on the mile rd area ( i know that everyone says this) but seriously, it is probably the easiest part of the lake to get into huge numbers and size that time of year, and throw a tube or drop shot you will catch fish.  just keep moving around until you get a bite, then stop and work that area.

start shallow and work your way deeper.  you will catch fish in every depth but the size will fluctuate.  my favorite depths for that time of year on LSC are 4-6 and 9-11 fow.  seems like the in between depths produce a lot of fish but the bigger ones seem to come from those ranges for me.

Are you coming over to the Novi Ultimate Fishing Show? I could show you some examples there.

Or at the Grand Rapids show, though that won't be until March.

I will be at both Dan.  I was allready planning on finding you to say hi anyways, so that will work out good.you're going to have a booth in GR, too?  I could probably help you out at that one, depending on the weekend.  It's only a 30 minute drive from my house.

djkimmel

Yes, I will have a booth there too. Both shows are well worth a visit (or two... or three)!

I will need help at Grand Rapids too.
