Registering a used unit.
« on: May 16, 2014, 07:33:29 PM »

Is it possible to register a used unit bought from someone else?  I purchased a 788c,  and would like to be able to do updates on it, but couldn't register it on the Humminbird website.

That's a good question. I think basschief is up north smallie fishing right now but I will let him know you posted in this section. He offered to help out as soon as we started getting some questions posted.

I was able to register the units I have in my new boat. The website gave me an error during the process but it did take and I was able to get the software updates.

You should be able to register a used unit at the humminbird web site.  If not call the 800 number for humminbird.  Just for info, Monday is a bad day to call, long wait times.

Somethimes best not to update right away. The updates sometimes have bugs in em. Anybody with a sd card with up can insert into you unit and update. Most boat dealers have a chip in ther e pocket to update units when customers in for service and repair.
