Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I try to explain to people every now and then why I'm personally frustrated about our artificially high gas prices. I do not like greed and selfishness, which is the root of so much unnecessary evil in our species.

This article explains well what I have tried to explain to others about the actually ridiculous reason we are footing the bill for high gas when there is a way, and has been a way, for quite some time to put a stop to it.

The Real Reason Gas Prices Are Soaring

By CHARLES WALLACE

Have you ever wondered why when you go to the gas station to fill up the family car, the price of gas at the pump has just jumped 25 cents a gallon over the past three days? Perhaps you thought the oil companies were just being greedy. Or you believed the nightly news pundit who said that gas prices went up because the crisis in Libya was affecting supplies of oil. One professional oil trader says that you'd be wrong on both counts.

I know I will be putting more pressure on my elected representatives to do something. That is mostly what I can think to do. It didn't work under that last administration. I don't know if it will work under this one. But I despise just sitting by and doing nothing.

I have read it before and didn't comment, but I can't hold my tongue long.  It just goes to show that the people that run this country don't truly understand how what they do impacts others.  It reminds me of one of the episodes of "Undercover Millionaire", where the guy talked about how they chose to stay in the air in the private jet an hour longer and didn't even think about it.  Then, he sees the people he works with struggling to meet ends, and how hard they work.  He said up to that point he thought that people were only poor because they lacked work ethic.  How his view changed after that experience, or how he made his view seem as if it had changed, was drastic.

Until you live in the shoes of others, you never know what others truly see and go through day to day.

Everyone could use some 'walking in others' shoes' time.

Absolutely correct.  Walking a mile in someone else's shoes changes everything.  I really like that Secret Millionaire show because I think it adds much needed perspective about the plight of the poor...an issue which is very close to my heart.

Sorry to hijack the thread.  YES, those gas prices are too dang high!!!  Grrrr!!!!!!

That one and I actually have watched the undercover boss a few times. Always makes me feel like things can improve when I see people stop and put themselves in others' shoes for a while. Wish we could all do that a lot more often.

As far as the gas prices, I think it is a travesty that all of us are paying as much as double what it should cost so people can 'make a living' speculating on gas prices rather than we all just pay what it really costs. People want to speculate and risk there money, that's there business, but it shouldn't harm the rest of us at the same time. I hate greed.
