I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. After spending countless hours (seems like) comparing Humminbird and Lowrance units I decided on a 998. I already have a 787ci so after using that for 1 1/2 yrs that helped in my decision. This unit cost me 1687.00 to my door, the best price I have found. I unpacked the unit and plugged it in using my Humminbird adapter and it has the current software allready installed. I don't mind sharing where I purchased it from so if anyone is interested send me a pm, just not sure if I should post it. I just checked the place where I bought it and although they are on back order it is 17.00 cheaper than what I paid.

Awesome Randy, I'm sure that you will like it. Did you get the one with the maps loaded ?

I'm signed up to go out to D & R Saturday for the humminbird class. With all of the snow coming I'm not sure we will be making the drive. I was hoping to check out a hb unit for the bow.

I have a Lowerance LCX26c there now but I would like to be able to share waypoints. So it's either pick up a older 332 for the console to go with the 997si or the other way I'm not sure yet.

Don, I was on the waiting list for the class at D and R and she called me this morning but I can not make it now. If I knew you were going I probably would have told her yes instead. I do not have the navionic bundle if that's what you are talking about,I have the same unit that sells for 1999.99 at Cabelas and BPS. It has the built in Humminbird contour maps that comes with the combo unit from what the book says.
