Started the season on muskegon - hid from the wind and picked up 9 keepers all in one stretch, 3 shallow and the rest in a channel about 12'-15' close to the bottom. shallow fish came on a perch shallow shad rap. deep ones came on chompers hula grubs, cin/purp or smoke purp. fish averaged 15" w/ 2 or 3 being nice fat 16's. Have i ever mentioned how much i love that lake ;) Didn't even get to fish my good spots cuz of the wind.

Since then i've been hitting the grand/tributary rivers for smallies. last week found us about 10 fish ranging from 12" to 18" most in the 14" range.  and again on last tues before the weather turned, more fish only 14" being the biggest and plenty of small ones. Bulk of the fish actually came out of the grand this week :o  Fishing shallow bandits in root beer and chart blackback, pb&j jewel jigs, chompers, green pumpkin tubes.

Heading to IN this weekend and will get back out there when this weather warms up a bit!

Thinking Hardy might be my next stop come next weekend - just can't get enough of them smallies.

Where abouts in IN? I'm fishing that state tomorrow. I believe Koontz Lake. I expect the bite to be slow b/c of the weather  :(.

i was in the NW area - no fishing though. Took my momma out to lunch. weather was pretty crummy anyway..... and my "boat" buddy back home just had a baby...

i've driven by Koontz a couple times i think, on the way to more fertile waters :)

HA!  :D It wasn't very fertile on Saturday either. However, that little lake does have some pigs if you hit it right.
