Lowrance HDS8 interferance problem!!

My brother-in-law put an HDS8 unit on his boat. He said it works fine with just the sonar, but when you try to run the sonar and side imaging they seem to interfere with each other. Any ideas, thanks for the help

need to know more on his setup  distance btwn the 2 transducers and type of hull and how is the ss mounted on the boat
