Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Well, that was NOT a good day!   :P

Started in the river, caught a couple small ones, best going about 2.5 lbs.  Worked up the main river a little ways, nothing special going on.  Worked back down the river into the S Channel.  Still nothing great.

Headed into the lake to find it kind of bumpy.  Fished the firecracker and then headed east to Mitchels bay.  Found fish scattered from 10' to 18', no concentrations other than groups of 10" - 14" fish.

At about 11:30, my motor started acting up.  Way out in the lake, it would idle ok but hardly get up on pad.  Took forever to get up on top, not a good thing in rough water.  Since the motor was acting bad, I headed back to the launch.  Really bad ride with no throttle response.

Checked the plugs, had one with a small crack in the ceramic, so replaced all the plugs.  I had meant to order them online a month ago ($12 each), but I needed them now, so I spent $18 each.  Dang.

Of course that didn't fix the problem, I put the light on it and the #5 cylinder has no fire.  Coil is toast.  So now I really hope the dealer has one that they can swap me under warranty, otherwise I have to pay out of pocket to overnight one in.

Starting to not like the 250 ProXS as much as I used to...

Hope the rest of you had a better day on the water!

Bummer Seth.  Sorry to hear about that.  I figured it was gonna be pretty bumpy out on the lake.  The breeze was kicking up all day on land.  If all goes well, I plan to get the boat back on the water this weekend.  YES!  Man have I ever missed being out there.  Can't wait.

David and I followed Chris and Dad for a while in the North channel.  David caught a small striper and a Rock Bass.  David then picked up a dink largemouth near some docks south of the state park.  We drifted the state park one more time and he picked up a 3.75 lb smallie.
We headed back up between the launch and the ferry and David picked up a decent 4 lb smallie.  Then nothing so we headed to the middle channel.  I managed to pick up a rock bass...but that was it for the day for me.
We didn't have the equipment issues Seth had...but we didn't find many fish at all.  The channel was getting bretty busy and choppy (by my standards at least) when we left around 1pm.  All said...not a bad day, but not a great day either.

report respectfully submitted...Eric

I think we went 34 miles for the day, just in the channels and a little up the river. My dad caught fish here and there but I didn't have my first bite until after 1 o'clock in the middle channel. A very nice bluegill decided to eat my goby there.  :P Finally I got a 2 1/2# LM on the west side of the channel in the weeds and another short. We moved over to the North channel before heading in and I got a 4-4 and another about 3. Funny how we only needed to run about 1/2 mile to find fish. The boat traffic was pretty crazy and we were both pretty beat up.

Hi Guys,

It's been a crazy summer with me also. Between my daughters graduation (she's now a doctor), marriage, family get togethers, parents 60th anniversary party, working on my daughters house in Cincinnati, birthday parties, family reunion (today), I think I've only been on the water on weekends 2 or 3 times at most. I would also rather not be on the water because of the tuna boats with my neck and back, so I end up not fishing. I wish we put some inland lakes on the list for this reason.

Let's pick a date and get things together again. This was a fun club, let's keep things going.

Mark

Yeah, this summer has been nuts.  But since I decided to keep my boat, I'm all about fishing as a club next year and even this year again if we can get something together.  With as hot as it is these past couple of weeks, I bet we have plenty of good fishing weather yet to come.  I'd love to see us get together more.  It's been a great club.  This was just a down year I guess, but hey, let's salvage another date or 2!!!
