The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Was just wondering what the deal on canadian fishing permits is. Are they yearl? weekly? and how much do they charge? Any help ia appreciated.

Dan

I have some info on fishing Canada on my teardropbass.com website. It's a little old, but most of it is probably still close. Should update it soon.

A yearly canadien liscense will run you about $65. That liscense is good for a full bag limit. They also offer what is called a conservation liscense that is good for a reduced possesion limit that is a little bit cheaper. If you will be fishing a tournamnet in canada you will NOT want the conservation liscense.

If you need a license. I have the form on my web site www.bigwaterbass.com, fill it out, fax it over and within a week you will have the license. It cheaper then going over there and getting it. Plus by using your CC you will get the best exchange rate.

Thanks alot for your help guys.

I believe you can pick up Canadian and Walpole licenses at Lakeside Marine also.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

In the past, Lakeside has the Walpole Island licenses on hand closer to fishing season. They sometimes run out.

You need to call ahead or fax a request for an Ontario license since they go over once a week and get them specifically for each person who has requested one.

It costs a little more to do it this way.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
