OK, I am getting ready to screw down the Hot foot for my new boat.  How long of screws should I get?  Don't want them to go to far down!

djkimmel

What boat do you have? Unless it is one I know well, the best thing to do would be to ask someone who actually works on that particular model. Maybe robtheboatman could get the answer for you from his service people?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I'm not familiar with that model. I don't know if Wonderland will be either, nor D&R.

I would suggest, to be on the safe side, that you call a Skeeter dealer like Freeway, Lake Drive, or Leaders and ask their service people just to be safe. I called Ranger service people last time I did something like this to be safe and feel it was the best way to handle it.

It's possible someone on here has the same model and has done this before, but even a slightly different model might be too different to be sure about the advice.

You may have seen a few of my previeous posts about this subject. I would say DONT DO IT. Take it to were you bought the boat and let them do it. I have been doing lots of research on this subject since I put screws through my hull and have found that on some new boats you actually need a plate that you screw to the floor on the far left side of the driver counsole. I would just take it to a marina that sells skeeter and pay them the money. It will be cheaper than your insurance deductable.

Agreed, don't do it!  If you do decide to try it yourself, keep in mind that you don't necessarily have to have all 4 screws.  Because of my hull design, my dealer only used 3 screws to avoid possibly going through the hull on the 4th.  I have never had a problem with the hotfoot as a result of using 3 screws.

Disclaimer:  I am not recommending using 3 screws!!  Do this at your own risk.  I strongly suggest going to a dealer and letting them do it.  If they screw up, the cost of fixing your hull will be covered by them, not your insurance.
