Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Anyone fished the northern section of Kentucky Lake from the dam to the 1st bridge in early May? I am going to practice April 18-19 but the tournament is the 2nd weekend of May.

I have not but I will be down there for practice and an Air National Guard Tournament Apr 24-30th.  I'll trade ya.  Let me know what you find 18-19 and I'll give you a report on what the fish are doing when I get back.

I'm thinking when you are there they should be off the ledges still. I am thinking some ledges and some spawn when I am fishing the tournament.

Really depends on how soon the water warms up -  I'll be down there the 2nd week of May for the tourney as well.  you can find some fish up shallow all the time, but the bigguns should be done and gone by then - plan on fishing deep Jigs, big worms, and Cranks on those famous ledges.

Remember - Tn changed their SM regulations to 18" keepers, so FLW is implementing 18" SM minimum reg anywhere caught.

Thanks for the advise. We only fish Saturday from the bridge to the dam on Kentucky and to the second bend on Barkley for college tournament. It should be pretty fun I am hoping but the water should be pretty beat up by then. I have some good ideas on where to look and hopefully it all works out. Best of luck when you go down there.
