Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Anybody know where I can purchase a Minn Kota lift assist for a Maxxum 74lb 52" 24v trolling motor in Michigan preferably but I would buy it online? I'm in the Oakland County area around the Detroit Zoo.

I'm pretty sure it can be done with the Maxxum 74.  But you're going to need to buy the whole mount (MaxPro 80/52") unless they've changed something which I doubt.  Any Authorized Service Center can get you one since it's listed as a service part.  Be prepared to spend some money though.

you can call Minn Kota direct.  1-800-227-6433
i have ordered parts from them.  the lady i talked to was very helpfull when i had problems with mine.

Thanks fellas, I 'm contacting Ralph at Wonderland West and I'll call Minn Kota if needed. I thought maybe someone on GLB might have upgraded their Maxxum. I have a friend that did this to his and it's made his fishing experience's a lot easier. Lifting that motor all day is hard work.

I upgraded my 2001 Maxxum 74 (42 inch shaft) back in April, 2005 and it costs about $260 at that time between all the parts you have to change. The service guys wanted another 1+ hours of labor to change it over but it's really not that hard to do yourself. I think it's the best money I've ever spent on equipment. A real back saver.

I would order it direct from Minn Kota to make sure you get the right parts or from Coastline Power & Lighting. He is an authorized Minn Kota dealer up in Algonac. They are very helpful too.

If you decide to do it yourself and want some help, let me know.

I'll call Minn Kota Monday and see what they want for parts. Thanks Mark. The boat is in the garage and I'm sure it won't mind an upgrade.

Well, I called Minn Kota and described what I wanted to do to my trolling motor and they sold me the parts to upgrade it with the lift assist components. These parts are what make the Maxxum Pro 50% easier to deploy. I got my winter project. Parts with S/H cost about $ 250.00 My motor is about 5 years old and I've did my share of work on it so this task should be a walk in the park.  Thanks again fellas for the input.
