Hi Everyone,
I've been kicking around an idea of starting a low cost tournament club that would be a "One Man Per Boat" tournament club/circuit on LSC, Erie, and Inland Lakes in SE Michigan, depending on what the members want to fish. Just looking to see if there is any interest. I've spoken to a handful of guys in a couple clubs I fish with and have a few guys that would like to fish a circuit were everyone fishes alone, one angler per boat, one-on-one. The idea is to be able to fish your best stuff without having to show everyone your areas and be able to fish were and how you want with out having to accommodate a partner (not that there is anything wrong with that, just not what the club would be about). Also we would have low entry fees ($20 per Boat) with 100 percent payback so not to be a burden financially to compete. The club would have minimal annual dues ($20 per year) to cover things like weight-in scale, website hosting, and anything else the club might want or need. All dues would be used solely for the club. Again the idea is to have a low cost club that is set up for guys that like to fish tournaments but don't want to fish the higher dollar circuits. There have been times I've been too busy to track down a partner to fish a tournament but have paid double to fish them. I think I'd be interested in fishing these. It isn't the concern over sharing my spots - I don't think that would be most peoples rationale.

Ilike that idea  I HAVE FISHED THE BFL I HATE HAVING A PERSON THAT I DON'T KNOW IN THE BACK. SO I LIKE TO SEE THIS COME TOGETHER. I STILL FISH A LOCAL CLUB WITH A PARTNER BUT I KNOW HIM SO WE FISH AS ATEAM. TO FISH ALONE AT TIMES WOULD A NICE TREND. JIM

Hi everyone,
So this is what I came up with. A "One on One" - "One man per boat" Lake St. Clair and Erie tournament trail/club for the guys who love to fish tournaments but don't want to break the bank doing so. It is an Open format, just show up to fish. No membership required. $20 Entry fee. 100% payout back to 3rd place (provided we get enough entries). $5 Big Bass pot (optional). 4 tournaments scheduled for 2011, 2 on St. Clair and 2 on Erie. All are welcome.

I just read the information in the website link.  I like this format and you won't break anyone financially. What a concept.  I will be participating in these when I can and have already put the dates on my calender.  I do have questions.  I noticed that in the board it said that you could just show up at the ramp, however in the website you would have to call by 9pm the evening before to enter into the tournament.  Well which is it??  Just show up or is calling a definite requirement??  I understand having an idea how many are going to show.  Are you going to be strict on someone who may forget to call and then just shows up??  Good stuff Len.

Hi Big Dog,
It won't be strict as far as the call ahead if we already know you. As far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier. The call is basically for the guys that haven't fished with us so they know what to expect and we know who is fishing with us. For guys we do know, it would be more of a courtesy call so we know to expect you. The tournament will run similar to the Backlashers as far as take off and weigh-in. I'm hoping if we can get a core group, we can build it into a club similar to theirs but keep the "One man per boat" open concept so that the field is always even from boat to boat.

Thanks Len.  I like the format.  However maybe earlier in the season, I kind of like an earlier blastoff than 7am.  I hate waiting around a launch when the sun has already been up for an hour.  Just a suggestion.  I figure to maybe suggest some things to you now before it gets too close to a tournament to change it.  Does the term "first safe light" maybe make more sense for a blastoff.  As the season gets closer to fall then blastoff times can be adjusted later to "first safe light".  That gives an earlier weigh-in time if the tournament is 8 hours.  That way I still get to spend some time with my kids that afternoon when I get home.  Just a few little things here that may help you draw more boats..............or not.  I don't know.  I still like that format.  Good stuff.

Hi Bill,
I agree. I like the safe light blast off also. Once we get the core guys that consistently fish, we can make whatever tweeks we need to accommodate as many as we can.
