I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Caught this pig on friday morning while fishing commerce lake with a friend.  It was the second fish of the morning.  The first one, caught by my friend Jeremy, was a 4.5 (im guessing) lb 21.75" (we measured) largemouth that ate a Lucky Craft sammy 100.  He started razzing me telling me I couldnt beat that fish.  I told him to relax and 3 casts later hooked this smallie.  She couldnt resist a 5" Nemesis stick bait, watermelon seed, whacky rigged.  I estimate this fish at 8 lbs but i think its closer to 5.25 lb.  Maybe bigger.  Either way, a good sized smallie for an inland lake.

A little further out and hide your hand behind the mouth a little better, it could've been passed off as 8 for sure!!!!  Awesome fish though, wish I could've done that.

WOW!!
I fish Commerce Lake 2 sometimes 3 times a week in the summer and have never caught any big smallies.  I have caught many 4lb 5lb and 6ib Largemouths in Commerce Lake.  That lake gets very little fishing pressure because it is a private lake.  You just have to dodge all the jet skis and pleasure boaters.
Nice smallie.

Well I went out to Commerce Lake last Thursday (July 17) and stuck a really nice smallmouth bass.  The biggest one I have ever caught in that lake.  I didn't have a scale but it measured just under twenty three inches.  It had to have been close to five poundsif not over.

Jay,

Nice fish.  I imagine there are a bunch even bigger than the ones you have caught and the one i caught.  Possibly some 6 - 7 lbers.  I would like to get out there next spring when they are spawning and see if i can find one of those big girls.

Look for me when your out there.  I will be in an older green Stratos 185.

I was out there last sunday (not this past one, but the one before) and we did pretty good again.  Nothing big, but lots of 2 lber and a couple 3s. Mostly largemouths.   I am still trying to figure out where those smallies are.  The few that we have caught have all come in oddball places except for the large sand point over by where the ski course is.  And we seen a nice school of 1.5 - 2 lb smallies chasing a school of minners over by the humps not far from that point.

Anyway, would like to pick your brain a little for some other possible spots.  I can usually only get out there for a few hours at a time so i dont know much about the lake......yet.  I love that lake tho.  Its a ton of fun to fish, until the skiiers get out there.

I'd say she's a 6. Push it up a little from that 5.25 lol I caught a 7 on Charlevoix last weekend and it wasn't much bigger than that. I'd say you caught a lagit inland 6, not many people can claim that! Great job!
