I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Time to respool my spinning reels

I've used 10# powerpro for 4 years.  10-20ft of Fluoro, 75-100 yds of braid, rest of spool is cheap 15# mono backing.  I flipped the line last year but feel it's probably time to respool it.

Anyone have another braid they recommend?  I've heard good things about sun line 12# sx1 performance braid.  The only thing that bothers me about the PP is it's a bit limp and tends to wrap around the guides a bit.  I've heard SX1 casts a bit better, but my guess is that at that pound test, they are all about the same.

Just put 150 yards of Power Pro on my 3 Salt Water reels.  Got to have a lot of line for surf fishing.   Have used the original 8 lb Spiderwire Braid Smoke color on my fresh water spinning reels for years.  Both are reasonably priced.   Us old retired guys can't spend a lot on fishing line.

LennyB

20 lb. Berkley Stealth for my spinning and 30 lb for my bait casters that get it.

fishstick

20lb P-Line TCB 8, no issues making extra long casts with it!

I get less wind knots with the 20lb than I do with 10lb braid.

I too use a mono-braid-fluoro set up.
I like the yellow power pro.
Theses old eyes see it better when line watching.
I also have found that braid that is too thin gives me more wind knits.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I agree with Mike, I like the Super 8 slick.

I've been using 15 LB Spiderwire Stealth for a few years now. It performs really well for one of the more "affordable" braids. But I picked up a buddie's rod this summer that had Sunline SX1... Long story short I might be switching this summer myself as well... I already use FX2 on my Casters, so the idea of this really doesn't surprise me lol.

I'm with fishstick (which is great company to be in in my opinion!!)! I really like the newer 8-strand super braids. Of course, I always stick with P-Line because they have supported this forum for years, and they make really great line!! I don't get my line for free either. I like that sometimes P-Line is on sale around here because it is less popular with the masses.

The new TCB 8 is really nice. Thin, soft and smooth. Strong too and very little wrapping issues even with the real thin line I use, down to 8 pounds test I think is the thinnest I have.

I still buy and use their older Spectrex IV braid when I see it because it is almost always at a great price and it works really good too for many presentations.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
