What are the closest Metroparks to Taylor jcheetam? I think some of those other reservoir parks (Ecorse River or ?) aren't too far from that either, are they?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

There are quite a few options nearby...I'm running out the door now, but will post some tonight at home (unless someone beats me to it, which is always a good possibility...).

I grew up South of Taylor, and when I fished from shore, I would go down to the Flat Rock Dam, which is South down Telegraph Rd near South Huron Drive. I caught everything from steelhead to smallies, to walleye, and of course the occasional carp, gar, catfish, etc.  I would also go to Elizabeth park in Trenton, which is East on West Rd from Telegraph until it ends near Jefferson.  Turn Right and head straight to the park.  Wyandotte, Trenton and Ecorse also have some access points (at least they did back in the day, not too sure now), just drive North up Jefferson (aka Biddle in Wyandotte) from Elizabeth park.  I live on the westside now, and during the week, if I need a quick fix, I go to Newburgh Lake, which is off of Hines Drive between Newburgh and Haggerty.  I've actually caught some nice largemouth up to 3.5 pounds and plenty of smaller fish.  There's also crappie, sunfish, some pike and of course carp.  There were some days in the spring where I would catch up to 20 or 30 fish for 5 to 6 hours of fishing (most smaller, but still fun nonetheless).  There are actually a quite a few little areas to fish along Hines Drive, which you can get to by heading North on Telegraph...if memory serves me, you can access Hines from Telegraph just North of Michigan Ave.  And, there's always the metro parks, which usually have access to some decent fishing.  I haven't fished most of them, but I know Kent Lake has plenty of shore fishing opportunities, and I hear there are some decent fish there  ;D  Anyways, I hope I gave you a couple ideas.  I'm sure some of the other nice people on this site will chime in with some ideas...

You did a great job of covering fishing sites. Let me add a few more. In Trenton, there is a pier off biddle,(Jefferson) which has a nice park with it. Their is also a cement pier in Trenton around that Hospital off Biddle. The foot of Southfield Rd. and Jefferson has a pier too. There is a launch with a park in River Rouge off Jefferson. And we can't forget Belleville and Ford lake which is part of the Huron River watershed. Belleville has fishing off of Rawsonville Rd. and at points around the Lake.

Zeman, my club is looking for new members.  Non-boaters have been scarce and we are looking for them especially.  Check out our website:  www.backlashers.net  Maybe it is something your interested in.  Plus it will get you on the water with some pretty good fisherman and some pretty good guys.

Zeman, I'll add an invitation to ya also.  If you want to get out on St. Clair, PM me or email me anytime.  I'm on the water a few times a week.  Our club, the Eastside Bass Anglers is a great bunch of guys who just fish for fun.  You are welcome to fish with us anytime.  If tourneys are your thing, definitely check out BD's club.  I hear they are a fun bunch of guys.  If tourneys aren't your thing, come fish with EBA anytime.  Or heck, do both!   ;D  Welcome to GLB.
