well im new to the board and got a bunch of questions so thanks in advance to anyone that helps. I was interested in being a co angler for a BFL event, or other tourneys. I never fished as a co angler so im kinda lost as to what to do to get signed up and on the right track to get on a boat. any help would be great. thanks

The first thing you need to do to fish a BFL is join FLW outdoors if you are not a member. Then you can just enter over the phone or I believe you can on the website now. www.flwoutdoors.com

Great article with tips on fishing as a co-angler :

http://www.greatlakesbass.com/articles/coanglertips.html

Fishing the BFL as a co-angler is a great way to see new water, learn from others and meet some great people.

im not sure this seems like a dumb question but after registering if on time and all do you just show up and are paired with a boat. thanks again

Ther is a pre-tournament meeting the night before where you will be paired with a boater.

Once you enter the tournaments you want to fish, FLW will send out a letter to you once you are confirmed for that tournament. Either on the the letter or at FLWoutdoors.com you can see the tournament specifics, where the pre-tournament is, the time of the meeting, off limits areas and licenses required. Last year was my first year and had an awesome time. Everyone I met and fished with was great. You'll have a good time, just remember to give your boater gas money and treat his rig with the respect you would expect, and mostly, try to learn something new every tournament even if you don't do well and you can make them positive experiences. Good luck and welcome to the site!

Check out the Co-angler clinic on the FLW site....Also make sure you are very familiar with the BFL rules.
There are alot of guys that fish as Cos on this site so make sure you shoot us any questions that you may have...Make sure you do a search of this site under Co-anglers.
Fishing the BFLs as a Co is a blast...
Also if you aren't in a Bass club you should think about Joining...You can learn a ton in a club without all of the pressures of tourney fishing...Where are you from??? My club Team Bass is taking new members up until April and we could sure use some non-boaters..Our meetings are in Davison, but we travel all over the state to fish.
EBA is a really good club in the Detroit area..
