I entered into a conversation on a different site about this subject, i've tried a few different systems mostly to identify what type/size of line I have on each reel.  This guy has a system that works well for him.

I have a labeling machine that I use to produce labels for each of my rods. For example if I have 11# Berkley Vanish Transition on a crankbait rig I use - BVT 14# CB - for identification. I use the black letters on white background and it shows up nicely, even in near dark.

I also use the labeler to label each of my spinning reel drums with the type and size line I have on them.

What works for the fine members of GLBass.com??

Changing my line often and loading up with the line I intend to use the next trip. ;D ;D

Seriously, I tried a system - it failed so I go by memory.

I am pretty consistent with the line I use, so I don't really have too much of a problem.  Typically, it's 30lb Power Pro on my baitcasters (65lb on my pitching/flipping reel) and 20 lb on my Spinning rigs.  Back when I used mono, I would use CXX 12 lb in Green on some baitcasters and 10lb clear on others.  I could differentiate line size by which color I was throwing...low-tech, but it worked for me.

I have a labeler.  I'll give that a try and see how it works.  Normally, I use a micropoint Sharpie and make a similar notation (very small) on the reel spool.  The ink stays on fine while I'm fishing and comes off with a rag and some alcohol.

Thats where I'm trying to get with line, I've tried a bunch of different stuff..searching out what I like the most.  I think I'm close though, but i've got way too much line in my basement! :-\'

I change my line fairly often, so I don't have trouble remembering what is what.  You can usually tell by feeling it if you do forget.

I change my line so often, it is one of those things I never forget.  It is like anything that has to do with fishing or the line I had on the rod two years ago I can remember.  When I comes to school.  That is another story.!!!!!!!

Hey I ordered some of dhuff's golby head jigs. Nice looking jigs. You had better get hooked up with hime. Check's in the mail D.
