Never heard of that as a common practice but it shouldn't hurt anything if it is really RV antifreeze?? (which is normally pink or red) I use it every winter to put in my camper holding tanks including the drinking water tank. As long as you rinse it out good you should be fine.

Now, if it is real vehicle antifreeze you want to make sure and rinse that out real well with multiple flushes. That stuff is toxic to most creatures.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

It was blue. Kinda slimy. Vacuumed it out, dried it out, hosed it with a cleaner that's biodegrade and flushed both for 2 hours a piece starting at the front box

Never heard of Blue RV antifreeze...Sounds like the stuff they put in RV toilets.... :o.

I have never had an issue with the pink stuff....

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

They said it was  RV type antifreeze for the holding tanks and what not.  I told them when I called, It is a nice thing but please don't do that again.   Putting it in the bilge area is ok , but never ina  livewell.

my mechanic did the same thing, it will keep any water left behind in the pumps from freezing and breaking the pump up. i just soaked the stuff in my livewell, ill rinse it all out in the spring.

Guys,

There is a red and a blue RV antifreeze these days
Both are non toxic

The red that were used to is good down to -50 f
and the blue is good down to -100 f and it costs a little more

We should getting Mike (WaterFoul) explain it better. I believe west marine sells both.

Only thing that ever belongs in a livewell is fish, water, cull tags and the occaional 12 pack

If you caught more fish you wouldn't be able to use your livewell for a cooler... ;D

We do sell both types.  You're right on with what you said above.  Neither will harm fish, your dog, cat, or ex-wife (too bad eh?).  A simple rinse in the spring and you're good to go.  It is 100% non-toxic.  My rep even says you could take a slug of it out of the bottle... to which I answered "you first!"  But really, it's not a big deal if they put it in there.  I always pour a little of the pink stuff in the hoses for my livewells to protect against any water that might still be in there.
