I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Hello,

I have a 70 thrust motorguide with the standard 3 blade prop. Does anyone use the safari weedless prop? If so how do you like it? Does it cut through weeds better?  Will I lose power going from a 3 blade to 2 blade?

Thanks! !

Got Fish??

I wouldn't  call it weed less . But my two blade  prop definitely  collects fewer weeds  and seems not to lose  much thrust going in weed beds.

I switched from motorguide to minnkota for this reason. You can literally go through everything with minnkota prop.

Agreed.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

I also  have a minnkota. My 35 lb pulls my aluminum boat quite well through  weeds, with my two blade  prop.

I had a minn kota on my old boat and I definitely liked that more than the motor guide I have now. Anyone have a Maxxum 80 for sale lol.

Redbone

I did not notice that much improvement on the two blade so I went back to the original three blade.

I do not think its the blade that makes a difference between minnkota and motorguide though. It is the position of the skeg on the bottom. Minnkota has there skeg in front of the body and away from the prop. Motorguide has the skeg next to the prop. This causes even the smaller weeds to hit the skeg and then wrap around the prop. Take a look at both designs and you will see what I am talking about.

Skulley

Got a Minn Kota myself.  Had a Motor Guide on my previous boats.  Switched to Minn Kota because someone about 10 years ago said that I would be better off with a Minn Kota when fishing in thick weeds.  I agree at this point being a Minn Kota customer for the last 10 years or so.  I don't think I will be going back to Motor Guide.  I'm going to stick with my Minn Kota.

I would warn anyone about getting a Minnkota Maxxum though... I had 2 bad ones out of the box that made very loud clicking noise. Ended up getting a deal on a Fortrex and it's night and day better than my old Motorguide Tour. The lift assist is money.

I love the Fortrex as well. Only downside is the US2 sensor crapped out on me after the 3rd season.
