Act NOW for the New Michigan Bass Season
« on: December 23, 2014, 11:32:46 AM »

UPDATE - see the new Act NOW PART TWO instead as of 2/12/2015 please and ACT NOW!! See - Act NOW PART TWO for the New Michigan Bass Season in the Members Only board. Not everyone has access to that board. You can contact me if you have any issues.

If you haven't already, please email (or snail mail - ) a similar note like the one below to the following email addresses NOW to get our New Michigan Bass Season done! We have all the support we could ever want in other major groups like MUCC, the Steelheaders, the Lake St. Clair Walleye Association and many more hunting, fishing and outdoor groups. PLUS we have excellent support from our State Legislature too!

There's no need other than waste to put off going with the full vetted Option 4/D now rather than waiting another 7 to 10 years and going through all this work again just to get to where we can be in 2015! The Michigan Natural Resources Commission and MDNR Director will make their decision in the coming months. Help them make the right decision!

Message:
Dear NRC Commissioners and Director Creagh,
I am urging you to choose the Michigan Bass Season Option 4/D for our new bass season. It is most fair option for ALL anglers providing the most bass fishing opportunity. The MDNR Fisheries Division has said ALL options present low risk so choose the option that provides the most fair opportunity for ALL bass anglers.

Option 4/D is: Bass fishing catch-and-immediate-release all year with 'harvest season' (anglers choice, tournaments) starting the last Saturday in April for the Lower Peninsula and May 15 for the Upper Peninsula, until December 31. Please don't make us wait another 7 to 10 years for the change we've already been working on for 30 years. Let us fish!

Sincerely,

[you]

Feel free to personalize it a little or change things around so it doesn't come off as too much of a form letter but that is the gist of it. The more of these they get the better. No one is sending in comments against our new bass season yet - only email and statements of support for Option 4/D have been received by the NRC including a group letter signed by many members of the state Conservation Coalition. Yet, they still hesitate. So do this for me and more importantly, for yourself! Thank you!!

Customized is good!

Sorry I didn't put a draft here before.

No sense is not doing it now though. Still don't know when the change can be made. We're working on it though we are delayed at the moment due to the holiday season.

Thanks to those of you who have taken the time to do this! Very, very important!
