Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm not trying to rush winter. I'm sure some semblance of winter is on the way. That means we are approaching the 2026 Ultimate Sport Show Tour - the three biggest fishing and outdoor sport shows in Michigan!

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Entry fee is $45 ($40 to the pot and $5 big bass). DNR launch in the no wake zone. 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. 100% cash payback. Hopefully this is a fun way to end the year. My bet is the fishing will be a little slow, but the giant bass should be in.

Kenny, this is the last stretch of the river at Lake Michigan. The launch is on the Benton Harbor side of the river at the no wake zone. Some BIG fish come from there in the fall !!!

Sweet, well I think were gonna make the trip up from Elkhart, we were gonna go out Sunday anyways so might as well come donate are money lol

jgip087

Jeff is spot on! This address is really close to the launch: 741 Riverview Drive
Benton Harbor, MI 49022. This is hopefully going to be a really fun tournament.  I'm guessing fishing will be slow, but, like Jeff said, some huge fish swim in from Lake Michigan in the fall and I guarantee this cold snap pushed them in.   We will pay 1 spot for every 4 boats that fish.

So since I'm new to all of this, what are some rules or guidelines that we may need to fallow?

jgip087

The only rules are pretty generic for all tournaments. No live bait, 5 fish limit per team, legal size is 14 inches or longer in Michigan (you probably already knew that though), dead fish = .25 pound deduction at weigh-in, 1 pound per minute deduction for being late to weigh-in, and no trolling. Life jackets are normally required when the big motor is running but they are optional Sunday. All the money that comes in will be paid back, most people keep a little (10%-20%) but this is for fun so all the tournaments I ever run are 100% cash payback. Sample payback would be if only 4 boats show up then the winner gets $160 and the biggest fish would get $20; 8 boats fish 1st is $220, 2nd $100, biggest fish would get $40, etc. If there is a small craft advisory out, which I am guessing there will be, then Lake Michigan will be off limits to make sure no one gets in trouble out there.
