Big dreams

Went out on Sanford with Tom this afternoon.  We were a little worried that the storms might have caused a slow bite today.  We were wrong...

We started out on the main lake with Tom catching only one smally.  We then moved to a stretch of seawalls on the main lake ledge side and caught a couple respectable largemouth.  It wasn't until we hit the mouth of a cut before we hit the mother load.  Both Tom and I had fish hooked at the same time on a seawall.  He had a 20" smally and I had a 2lb largemouth on.  We ended up catching fish all over the lake with the majority of them being at the mouth of a channel.

Tom,
Can you post that pic of your smally?  That thing was huge!

It was a blast fishing out there yesterday.  When both people on the boat have fish on at the same time, it is always fun.  Going back out there tomorrow for a couple hours.  I am taking a co-workers son out for a few hours.  Hopefully we can find some more fish out there.

**Update**
8-24-2013

I fished on Sanford yesterday and found a good variety of fish.  The water clarity is 6"-2' in different areas.  Water temps were right around 75 degrees.  It was sunny yesterday so in the morning I fished in stained water and fished parallel to the seawalls.  The only way I caught fish using this method was to put the boat almost in peoples yards.  I had to be inches away from the seawalls and cast directly against the seawalls as far as I could cast.  If I was out too far...nothing.  If I hit the spot I aimed for and kept it tight to the wall, it was money.  I landed 10 or so fish doing this.  Once the sun came over head, I went out to the main lake and fished docks on the shady side.  Since it was clearer water on the main lake compared to cuts, I switched from using gold flake soft plastics to more green/clear soft plastics.  The first dock I came to I lost a 4-5 lb. fish.  The bite was light so it was tough to feel if they were on or not.  I switched to a Trokar hook to test out the sharpness and I never missed another fish.  I was bummed I lost the hog and it took a few minutes to settle down and try to forget about it.  Once I did, I followed up with a 3.12 lber.  I caught a few more doing this but I had to cast to the shady side of boats.  Usually pontoons with tops cast the most shade so those spots seemed to hold fish more often then single speed boats and docks.  But I must say that the bigger fish seemed to come from single speed boats and docks and the smaller 2.5 lb fish came out of pontoons....

I tried fishing weed breaks out on the main lake for about 15 minutes but I couldn't find any green weeds on breaks.  Seems the weeds are just starting to get a little color back to them after the chemical sprays.  I never did find weeds deeper than 8 ft.

Hope this helps
