I just got an email from Al Smith at bassfan.com, the weekend warrior national championship will held at the storied lake guntersville. here's the press release:

PORTLAND , Ore. , Jan. 29, 2007 -- BassFan LLC announced today that its Skeeter BassFan Army Weekend Warrior Championship (WWC) will be held this April 4-6 at Alabama 's Lake Guntersville .

The WWC, title-sponsored by Skeeter Boats, brings together true "weekend warrior" bass anglers from the top regional and local bass trails across the country for a two-day tournament. The winner is the true "best weekend warrior bass fisherman in America ."

"We're excited to be able to provide the best amateur bass fishermen in the country with a quality event on one of the best bass fisheries in the country," said Al Smith, BassFan's vice president of membership programs. "Having the event on Lake Guntersville during the first week in April should prove to be a great time for everyone involved. The fishing should be great and the anglers will see Guntersville at its best.
"We also appreciate the Alabama Department of conservation and Natural resources working with us on bringing this important event to the state of Alabama ."

Event details:

            > Lake cut-off will be March 1-March 29. No contestant can be on the lake or obtain any sort of information, other than publicly available information, about the lake during this time.

> The official practice period will begin midnight March 30 through 4:00 p.m. April 4.

Hey - thanks Josh! Good luck to you and Jon. We'll have to follow things and report on it - hopefully great news!!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

They just posted the payouts on bassfan.com for the weekend warrior national championship, its a virtual winner-take-all format with the winner getting $25,000, and the rest of the field receiving a $800 appearance fee, definitely need to catch a couple of "big mommas" that's for sure.

Thanks Josh. Dennis Beltz is mailing a copy to Jon also.
