solar bat sunglasses

Hello all,

     Just curious if any of you have ever used solar bat sunglasses. I am looking into buying a quality pair. I have heard good things about the mossback lens. Hopefully they will help me with sight fishing this spring. Normally I used $20 glasses, but if there is a chance of seeing fish on deeper beds, then buying them is worth it to me. If not, then is there any other glasses or lenses that you may suggest.

I have heard the mossback green is an excellent sight fishing lens but I haven't tried them yet. I haven't bought a new pair in a number of years.

I'll definitely give them a look - I need prescription. I think I saw before that they have something for that.

I'll check more into it since Solar Bat is nice enough to become a national sponsor of TBF, Inc. That is worth consideration and support.

I WEAR THE SOLOR BATS, AND LOVE EM', THEY ARE LIGHT WEIGHT AND VERY COMFORTABLE.
ALSO THEY DO A GREAT JOB OF FILTERING LIGHT.

I bought the mossback solarbats 6-8 months ago and am really pleased, especially in stained water. I was down in the keys over christmas and tried my dad's Smith Optics and I've gotta say those were the clearest, brightest glasses I've ever tried. I could see bottom detail in 20-30ft with the Smiths whereas I could make out large items with the SolarBats.

I saw them today at the Novi show - they have a new transitional lens in mossback green (which got great reviews the past few years) to a yellow near the bottom -tried em on in the booth and they look awesome - just on the wrong size frame for me.  It would be well worth a look -

I have a pair of Solar Bats that I wear in low light or overcast conditions and they work great! Light weight and comfortable also.

Thank you all for the input. There are just a few more questions I have for you.

Are the mossbacks for low light conditions? Will I have a problem with them on bright sunny days? And Fowlmouth, what type of SMITH OPTICS were you wearing?

Solar Bat also has excellent customer service. I broke my frames last year and they replaced them for $7.50 and I had them back in about a week.

Hey Billy, not sure of the model but they were the glass copper lens, he had the gray lens also but it wasn't as bright as the copper. I know varying water conditions call for different color lenses and that could have been a factor in them performing better than my mossback's, but I'm gonna have both in my boat this season.

I have a pair of Mossback Green Solar Bats and I wear them in all different light conditions. (Bright sunlight to dusk).

I also have a pair of Costa del Mar's with a Copper lens color, but I prefer the Mossback green.

If I ever have to get another pair it will be Solar Bats.

I have 3 pairs of  Solar Bat.......Moss, amber & yellow (I believe) and they all work good.....however.....my personal preference is with glass lenses.   I also have a pair of Maui Jim's and one other glass pair (I forgot the name) and prefer my amber Maui Jim's over all the others.   

There just seems to be something about the glass lenses that help me see better.....I don't know....maybe it's just me?
