Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

I'm not trying to rush winter. I'm sure some semblance of winter is on the way. That means we are approaching the 2026 Ultimate Sport Show Tour - the three biggest fishing and outdoor sport shows in Michigan!

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Due to low water levels on the Great Lakes, particularly Lake St. Clair, the mouth of the channel at the Michigan DNR Clinton River Cutoff ramp needs to be dredged.

Boat drivers licenses.  What do you think?  Weigh in.

This would promote safety as well as generate income.  Require a license to operate boats and jet ski's.

From an enforcement perspective the ability to suspend the license and arrest for repeat offenders.  This would provide more opportunity to get those reckless boaters off the water.

I for one would gladly apply for and purchase a license if the money went into the MDNR and our waters if it aided in making the waters safer and more enjoyable for all.

Bundle your fishing license fee into the boating license at a discount for boaters as a package deal.  MDNR and Marine patrol would have the ability to "call in" your license and check your fishing license at the same time.  It would serve as a photo ID on the water as well.

As a former law enforcement officer I can see alot of benefits from an enforcement perspective and as a boater and victim of several idiots on the water I see a benefit for us anglers as well.

Dont hold back, give me your opinions pro's and con's.

I like the Idea. It gets all of the jetskiers paid in.  :P That won't solve the real problem.  The real problem is property taxes.  The DNR has to pay property tax on all of the land they own.  Imagine that bill.  We can not keep raising fees to solve the financial issue.
Basically, we pay into the DNR money that has to be left in the DNR coffer, they then turn around and pay a huge property tax that ends up in the general fund anyway. ???

McCarter I said dont hold back.  You are going soft.

Dang, I think I see hen pecks on your hamstrings. :o

I like the idea and have for years... if it comes with requirements to demonstrate that you have the sense God gave a hamster... I see too many people on the water that only know how to turn the motor over, but nothing else about regulations and safety.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Just raise the out of state fishing licenses.  I've paid $50+ for most of my out of state licenses.  I think Maryland based their out of state fishing licesnes based on what maryland residents would have to pay in your state.

The residents of the State of Michigan already pay enough fees.  Let's charge the non-residents more for using our resources.   Enforce the laws already on the books and the rest will fall in line.  It is just like the gun rights issues.  Enforce the 50,000 gun laws already in place rather than write new laws.  Same goes for fishing and boating.  Enforce what is in place and the rest takes care of itself.
