New update looks and works well from my mac perspective Dan. Very nice! My son has been working on updating my webpage for teardropbass.com. He sent me the update this morning, but we are having browser problems. On his pc and on internet explorer the page displays fine, but on firefox and safari the layout isn't right. Any suggestions as to how to debug or how we would go about figuring out the layout. He's, my son,
has a much better background than I, but he's in CA and I'm here in MI. He says he can fix it and will work on it this week. I just thought with your expertise you might have a suggestion.

Thanks,
Dan

Fonts and line feeds/page returns (or lack of) work differently in Firefox and Safari than they do in IE 6 and before.

You have best results between IE and Firefox (and other derivatives of Netscape) if you explicitly size fonts and create line feeds where you need them.

For example, if you size a column to 125 pixels and then place 7 or 8 graphics in it like I do on my right hand column. In IE 6, if the graphics are all 125 pixels or less, they will not expand the column width, but line up on top of each other in the column.

But Firefox will allow the column the expand to line up the graphics horizontally side-by-side instead until it comes upon a code for a line feed (
) or a code that implies a line feed such as a paragraph, form or table.

You can also deny expansion or collapsing to some extent in code, but I find it is easier to explicitly but a line feed after each graphic or section of the web page.

I still have to go through my whole web site and change my font sizes to explicit sizes also, such as 9pt rather than using size="1" since sizing using the 2nd option is relative and a user can cause the fonts to be larger or smaller in the browser causing sections to possibly collapse or expand. I have a lot set to a specific point size, but some still uses the size=1, 2, 3, etc.

There may be other differences you are dealing with, but those are the most common ones I've had to address.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Thanks Dan. My son out in Tahoe is pretty savy with the web page stuff. My old index page I did with some basic html knowledge that I picked out of a book. It was enough to get me going and now my son Nick brought a totally new look to the site which I am very happy with. Hope to get some video up soon on the page.
