I am planning a last cast before school starts bass fishing trip for my 14yo son and myself to Lake St Clair. We will be leaving West Virginia this coming Sunday morning headed that way and plan to fish through Tuesday evening. I found this site while trying to do a little research since it is a last minute trip and noticed the willingness to help another poster that had similar plans so I thought I would solicit a little help for us. Really just looking for a starting point since there is so much information it has been almost impossible to narrow it down to a specific area. Any recommendations on motels in trailered boat friendly areas, favorite eats or any advice is appreciated. We don't mind a little adventure just don't want to waste all of our time or end up in the wrong neck of the woods.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Got Fish??

#1
Hello Gary. I would stay anywere north of St ClairShores, maybe Newbaltimore or Alganac. All the bate shops in the area. Should put you on fish. The mile roads , in the St ClairShores area. Is a popular spot. Tubs work well. Good luck and have a safe trip. Get your self a good lake map! Bring your G.P.S.

Thanks for the help. It at least solidifies some of my plans. I made a few phone calls to tackle shops yesterday and got a little more reading done on here the last day or two. Feeling more comfortable about it. I hate last minute trips but when the work schedule opens up and allows one more chance to get my son on the water I have to take advantage of it.

Thanks,
Gary

Got Fish??

Your probably going to take I-75. Good choice. But do not get off until north of  I-696. Once you get to Jefferson you can back track to NineMile. Have a safe trip.

Trip was a success. Got into some nice bass, not huge numbers but steady enough. Caught a few pike which was a first for us. Then scrounged up several walleye to bring home for the table.
