Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I know there are a few guys on here with hot rods. Just wondering if any of you were going to do any part of, or all of the drive. The second day is right here in Muskegon.

I wonder if that is the stuff Eric seems to be into?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Eric Smith?  He's never said anything about it to me. I sure wish they would have came through here when I still had my car. I've never "legally" gotten to do a big smokey burnout downtown before. Notice I said legally!

Eric

No Power Tour for Eric.  These are all street car type hot rods.  I race a sprint car on dirt tracks.  Lots of cool cars for sure, but not me.

You are pretty close, Dan.  Actually, it's eat, drive to the track, eat on the way, get to the track, eat, get in and floor it, hopefully don't brake at all, park it, and eat some more.

That's not too bad. If only it included fishing in there somewhere...?

I was in a 'race' once kind of like that but it involved some road rage on I-94 and a boat trailer so it was a little different. Not as much food. I was the passenger screaming 'STOP CHASING THE CRAZY GUY!! YOU'RE GOING TO WRECK YOUR BOAT AND KILL US BOTH! DON'T WRECK THE BOAT!!' or something like that. Some of it is still a blur...

It involved a thrown half empty bottle of mountain dew. I already didn't like mountain dew before that. ;D

It's funny you say that Eric. I ran a street tire shootout at Stanton a few years back with my Nova. I ate two meals that day in the car, in line, waiting to stage and run. It was really hot that day, and the car was very uncomfortable. But it sure was fun!!!

Then, when the car went in the trailer and we were on our way home at 1 in the morning, we ate. We ate lots of junk. Racing is awesome, except for the part where you have to pay for stuff. The last year I had my car, I built 2 motors. The wife was not very amused. Then, I told her fishing was cheaper!!!!

The Power Tour stop yesterday in Muskegon was insane. There wee probably 3500 cars or more there. Everywhere you looked, more and more cars. And everywhere you looked, Muskegon's finest were out making it so that yet another event that brings big money to town will surely stay away.

The highlight of the stop was a local guy that put down over 1200 horsepower to the rear tires of his GTO on the chassis dyno. It is absolutely amazing what kind of disposable income some people have.   I sure wish I still had my old Nova. Would have made yesterday way more fun.
